Arne

Arne  -  March 2013 to June 21, 2015

Arne was a rat that I saw posted on a rat health website.  The owner, a breeder, had taken in his father and 2 other brothers/  Arne was always skittish and kept getting terrible lice infestations. At that time the owner was trying to treat him topically and it wasn't working.

"Treating this poor rescue, He has rat lice. I gave him a warm bath an treated him with olive oil, then washed him with sunlight then rinse.
After this I dried him up, shaved the area (due to the amount of lice eggs and needing access to the wounds) I treated him all over (except bum and face) With Bag Balm, and at the bace of his tail Calamine lotion to stop the itches"

I advised her to get him Revolution and to freeze any paper/wood-based bedding he had.  It worked.

When I finally wore her down about taking in "insane/unfixable" Atlantis boy Milo, she asked me to take in his brother Templeton as well as he had bitten her.  When I got there I saw Arne, and he was one very terrified rat.  An older boy about 20 months and he would shove himself up in the corners of the cage like an unhandled baby, hiding from the scary humans :(  She said she'd been working on him.  After I left I told her I would LOVE to take on Arne and try to help him.  I also ended up with the last 2 Atlantis boys she didn't want.

He was always scared of people, never liked hands but LOVED other rats, out time and hammocks.  That alone made his life good :)

Jaxxy took him under his "wing"

Hammocks and friends :)
