Dexter - September 2010 to February 15, 2013
Dexter was a sick boy when he arrived on August 17th. I took him in from a friend, who had had his original owner give him to her, he was already sick and biting at that point. She tried her best but was unable to get the antibiotics in him and was very scared of being bitten, so I took him on to see what I could do.
I think Dexter knew that I would still love him no matter if he bit me, or how he acted because he cuddled down into my arms soon after I got home. After this I only had 1 small bite and it was because another rat was around, they really stressed him out.

He was a very sick boy and went onto all sorts of combos of antibiotics, but even then it didn't do much but tamp down his symptoms...he sadly was what I call a Chronic. No real cure in his future, you just want him to feel better. The vet staff said he was the loudest rat breathing they had ever heard. The diagnosis, after xrays and tests to rule out heart issues, was pneumonia
His good spirits and relative health returned. His eyes became shiny and he became a licker...a sweet loving boy.

He would rest his head or his paws on my hand in the cage "you are mine"

He wouldn't wake up when I touched him, he would stretch a little then go back to sleep :D

I even gave him a feisty spayed girlefriend for awhile, but as he aged she became too much for him, so Clemmie had to move out.

He was always a big proud manrat, but would whine like a baby when given antibiotics or kissed too much...he liked things on his terms best but would put up with me.
He loved the floor, and would waddle around everywhere (his HED was really bad at the end), lie beside the girls cage and taunt them...he wouldn't huff and puff back but would enjoy them doing it to him LOL. Even with such advanced HED somehow this boy managed to climb up a step stool up to the bed, and get down on his own... *scratches head*
I was always stalking him when he was sleeping, he was just adorable when he slept, all ratty tatty and beautiful LOL

Trying to scratch

"A little help here please?" Then I would reach in and scratch him as he made funny faces LOL

Sadly his respiratory issues took him from me last night. He was such a happy boy, and I will miss him so much.
