Emma

Emma - Gone from the world on Feb. 19, 2011 :'(

We only have guesstimates on her age, I felt she was very old, and my vet confirmed that Emma was 2-2.5 years of age.
She was only here for 3 days, then at my vet’s for 1.5 days.
She was a delightful little soul, brave and sweet although very annoyed that I kept insisting on putting the flats of my fingers on her belly and holding my breath.
She was originally a baby making machine that became redundant through age, was offered to 5 different snakes for culling but that didn’t work out, and was shoved in a box with another feeder girl and dumped at Joe’s store in St. Catherines. Jenny put aside her grief at losing her beloved Cocoa and went into extreme rescue mode, picking her up the next night and bringing her directly to me. Jenny gave me 3 days with this extremely special girl. I am glad to have met her, and am glad I could make her last few days of life comfortable, and loved.
She was unsure for about a day, after that she knew what she wanted and insisted she get it. She wanted Food…no problem, she wanted Out (3 am waking up to her hanging onto the bars of her cage, banging away loudly to let her out…I did :P) She slept on the bed under the blanket, warm and fed. She met Hope and even cuddled with her, although she did steal Hope’s food from her mouth, but Hope didn’t care. I wish I had taken that pic with the 2 of them cuddled together and their bright eyes looking up at me.
She discovered Wanderlust and the love of running and climbing on my living room floor. Then finding her own warm comfy spot to curl up in and sleep. I promised her that spot was waiting for her when she returned. :sad3:
At the vet clinic, she lay in my lap for about 20 mins while Alyssa was dealing with other clients and their animals. She made new friends and total strangers asked if they could pat her as she was pancaked in my lap from body strokes. She shivered with nerves a bit but just before I was about to hand her over to the tech, she gave me a few quick licks…my first and last. What we thought was a mummified fetus turned out to be a fatal type of tumor.

Emma-girl you went through a long very hard life, but I am very glad you were able to join me for your last 3-4 days.
I wish I had more pics of her…
