Finley

August 2009 - February 7 2012

Finley was a very normal little black berk boy, one of the healthy ones that came out of that shocking and horrible Rats Town Rattery rescue. That story is here...

He went quickly into foster with Dee along with Malcolm and Gideon.

Poor boy had to have a bath before he left, as they all reeked, and I figured that it was better my slightly known hands then a strangers. He did very well, but that was Finley…he was a sweet boy all his life, and just took everything in his stride.

Unfortunately when he was away being fostered, the typical RTR luck kicked in and he ended up with inner ear infection and a pretty big tilt. He was returned with his 2 cagemates due to an issue with Malcolm, and went to Dr Munn for a scope of his ears and the infection was still lurking…so more meds for the sweet boy which he was good about…of course.

He adapted very well and this pretty boy started to really enjoy life now that the infection was finally gone.

Getting older, with on and off respiratory, and a tumour growing on his side (these boys were prone to tumours and absolutely everything else) and later on the inevitable HED.

When I got the poor RTR boys they had been shoved into a small cramped cage for so long, that they let it be known, that they would prefer small groups only…meaning a lot of cages for me, but much happier boys. Sadly the groups started dwindling, so I intro’d them all back together into a group of 4 again, and they were happy. After this I intro’d them into my Oldies/Lilith cage, that’s when they were the happiest :D

HED was another thing very common for these poor ailing lads. Malcolm and Finley lived on the bottom of the FN, in their low hanging hammock. For awhile Malcolm had some issues and had to stay on the bed with me until they were sorted out, but boy was Finley happy to be reunited with his buddy,

After Malcolm passed Finley and Boris became inseparable. I took Boris out of the cage about 2 days ago as he showed signs of PT and couldn’t take care of himself any longer. Last night, poor Finley was in distress, and his inner ear infection was back with a vengeance. I gave him fluids, and some dex, and let him cuddle very very happily with Boris on the bed. Later on little Finners happily ate 19 cc’s of Ensure and baby cereal…his eyes were bright as I fed and stroked him at the same time. This morning he had passed quietly beside Boris. I am very glad we got one more good night.

I am sure Boris will be joining him soon, leaving only 1 RTR left. I also bet that Finley found Malcolm and Gideon as fast as he could, he really did love his 2 brothers so much.

Bon Voyage little man.
