Frenchie - September 2011 to December 23, 2013
The Pink Ladies are now down to one, as we lost Marty not long ago and now it was Frenchie's turn. Frenchie aged fast, she shuffled around on her hind legs practically sitting on her bum while walking, but she got around! The Ladies arrived in March, and were fostered by Liz for over a month for me. She took some scared girls who had been through a lot of changes and helped them relax and trust again. They started with an odd couple who had 5 nakie girls. They were about to move and didn't want them anymore, so they took them to a horse barn and planning on tossing them out in the middle of winter. The barn owner wouldn't let them so a kindhearted woman took them in to find them homes but her bf convinced her to offer them as snakefood as well since they had health issues. He even told Liz when she picked them up, that if they had been smaller he would've fed him to his snake. The ad had already been up for weeks, but I contacted them anyways just in case there were any girls left and there were still 3. Liz rushed over that night and picked them up. We named them the Pink Ladies after the girls in Grease. Of course the toughest girl of them all Rizzo is my survivor, and the sweet Marty was first to go.
My first glimpse of Frenchie in foster. She was the biggest girls, and had no issues with her lovely limpid eyes.

Then home with me. I loved my Ladies, they were so gentle, and soft and sweet. They were awesome to have out after a rough day. They adored each other, they never had scratched skin even when they were in big warm nakie piles..they were just the nicest rats to me and to each other.

They were just waking up and not looking their best but getting ALL 3 together was a miracle LOL As soon as that door opened they ran for the front.
(L - R, Frenchie, sickly Marty and Rizzo)

Then after losing Marty, I noticed some symptoms that I didn't want to see in Frenchie.
Nov. 11th - Frenchie fails the Cheerio Test, and I knew she had PT (pituitary tumour)

She was already very aged in body, so I decided steroid therapy was what I would do in her case. She responded very well. :D

She stayed very stable on a dose of dex every 2nd day...then suddenly she regressed badly. This was the beginning. I would get her back to "normal" again and then she would dip a little.

Finally I got her to where I thought she was stable, as she was running around again, but I guess that was her last Hurrah. We had a lovely night together, well she slept near me curled in her blanket or on me. I put her back in her cage and left her eating her oxbow, holding it firmly in both paws, eyes bright. Came home to her gone in the bottom of the cage. My sweet love :(
