Isa - March 2011 to April 2, 2014 :'(
A rescue friend named Alex told me about 2 old rat girls that needed a home. She had talked to the woman who was selling her a CN, and she had several rats but these 2 girls were old and wouldn't survive the trip to California that she was planning. She was going to euthanize them before she made the trip. It was a crazy type of pickup and 3 people coordinated it with me on the sidelines watching anxiously. I was in my last weeks of QT so couldn't actually be involved other than email.
Alex picked up the 2 ladies and her new CN, then went off to pick up another old lady, where the owner wasn't home, but she stuck it out and waited. Then she drove and met Jenny at Sarah's place and Jenny took all 3 ladies home with her to foster.
They had the unfortunate names of One and Two, but Moon suggested a take on their names that were much nicer and still meant One and Two. Isa (One) and Dusa (Two).
Dusa got very stressed from the journey and Isa watched over her until she recovered.

Isa makes herself at home

Dusa was The Tumour Girls...and Isa had a small tumour on her side and was fat but healthy...so sad that she was going to be put to sleep when there was nothing wrong with her besides shyness. Dusa luckily had my vet for her surgeon, survived her crazy tumour removal and came home to her worried sister again
The night before her surgery, Dusa couldn't heave her tumours up on the hammock to be with her sister.

Waiting...waiting

Reunited!

Life is good

Isa was a funny girl, her sister was brave and a bit pushy, Isa always screamed when touched, had big eyes that implored you not to kill her, but she didn't like other rats and that big girl could run, mouth open and chase any interlopers off HER bed LOL

We lost Dusa in October sadly and my shy scared girl worried me, I tried her with Joey the pushy neutered boy who loves his girls and she would scream every time he touched her...or I would touch her...funny little gal. But in the end he wore her down and she loved him using her as a pillow.

My little old lady became older, frailer and sweeter, and decided I had some uses, scratches, helping out with itchy ears and very warm to sleep on...

She was doing well, old, frail and then I noticed she felt very very cold. I tucked her up under my neck under a blanket but she never warmed up so I knew she was going to leave me...soon after she did.
She is now reunited with her beloved sister. (Isa on right)
