Lady was a shelter girl whose sister died before she could be pulled by Lindy (lj). So Lady went home alone and was introduced to some much older ladies. Well she earned her feisty nickname and was beating everyone down. :) She also had an enlarged eye but it never seemed to bother her.
Lindy knew I had some older girls who weren’t feeble and should accept her since she couldn’t stay with the group she was with, so Lady came home to me. She wasn’t exactly nice to her new cagemates, regularly pinning them down, but then she would cuddle up to them in the hammock, and they all seemed happy and just accepted her occasional feisty behaviour. LOL
Then the older, more compromised Eggy passed and then Lady and Pinn started their love affair. Pinny was very gentle with her old friend in the cage but as soon as she was gone, and Lady tried anything on, she would just lie on her with her considerable bulk…she wasn’t taking her guff anymore.
They were quite the odd couple, Lady and her high energy, and Pinn and her laidback, I’ll just sleep on you all the time while Lady runs madly. Then Lady’s eye changed and she developed uveitis and glaucoma…her eye had to be removed. Pinn was wonderful with her afterwards and Lady bounced back and was even happier afterwards. Pinn was her hefty beloved Anchor, and when Pinn contracted PT and finally left us, Lady was distraught. She became nervous and depressed. I tried some older rats and even some younger ones to introduce to her, but she was frightened of them.
Finally I tried sweet old Summer, and it seemed to be a good match for about 2 days…then Lady found her mojo and started getting feisty with Summer. So Summer went back happily to her former cagemates, and Lady came back to life…for awhile.
About 5 days ago I noticed her having trouble with her forelimbs and watched her carefully. I started her on dex and baytril but it did nothing this time…I wonder if it was something else pressing on her brain not a regular PT.
She died quietly on me a few minutes ago, me whispering to her how much I love her and how she will see her Pinn again soon.
Good-bye My Lady Love, my Feisty girl.
