Ophelia - May 2010 to April 1st, 2013
She came from Montreal, through victoria, and with her "sister" she loved very much, blind Cybele. They were unwanted and dumped in a box with their cagemates. Cybele needed a lot of medical attention so I offered to take them in as the poor SPCA was strapped after fighting to save some other small domestics in their care. Ophelia was part of the package and she protected her blind friend. She would nip and bite at fingers to protect her friend, so I had to be very careful handling her in the cage, outside of it she was just fine though LOL. Sadly our Cybele wasn't able to stay with us long enough, and Ophelia didn't want another friend. She wanted to RUN, and run she did. :) She would even climb up crazy heights and places and put herself to bed an hour or so after she was let Out. She was a smart, not particularly cuddly girl, but Ophelia was a survivor...and even with such a crazy life, and attitude oozing from her pores, she went quietly in her sleep the way Cybele went.
Getting a pic of Cybele and Ophelia together was almost impossible and we only have a couple between Victoria's (who took them home and nursed sweet Cybele to enough health to survive the long road trip) and my efforts.
Cybele was very ill here, and Ophelia was taking care of her as usual.

I look back and see how thin Ophelia was then

Just arriving home with me, after 2 wonderful weeks with victoria getting proper food and care.

The only pic I have of the 2 of them

Ophelia loooved her food and soon became chubby...I finally got Syra in with her, who had lost her sister Shade...it was an on-off love affair, as Ophelia started earning her nickname Oaf...by being rough with Syra at times, then cuddling the next minute.

Running on her wheel did not help the chub though :giggle:

Syra passed on us quite quickly, so Ophelia was alone again, but I tried her with my Oldies group and she seemed content.

She especially liked Milton. Sadly we lost Oscar, and Smitty together and Perses became too weak with his HED to live in a cage so it was soon Milton and Oaf. I ended up moving them in withthe Newmarket ladies...MIlton didn't fit in though, and tough-minded Ophelia did. The other girls were just like her so it really was a good match for her remaining time. Milton went in with the gentler baby boys very happily :D

She actually was the alpha of the group and loved it. Nala and her had some stand-offs but ended up closest..and squishy-est LOL

Goodbye Miss Ophelia, take care of your Cybele once again...I'll take care of your newest family for you. :D
