Perses – June 2010 to April 29, 2013
This was a family of rats that were advertised on kijiji forever. Then the tone changed on the ad, and the guy who had them said if no one picked them up they would be killed the next day. I emailed and that night was meeting my new 8 boys (Dad and 7 sons)…Perses was one of the sons.
I adopted out 3 boys first, then I adopted out Hermes and Perses, but it didn’t work out with that adopter at all (he was new to rats) so they were both returned, and stayed the rest of their lives here.
Perses ended up being the least aggressive of the 3 bigger boys who were totally different from their small gentle father Zeus and their sweet passive brother Hermes. Perses was getting beaten up regularly by Eros and Hades so they were neutered. This worked for a short while until Perses decided he would bully them back and took over Mean Alpha-ship. That cage was usually in an uproar LOL
His first photoshoot to give him his name

Perses and his dad Zeus loooved cauliflower

The 3 Bad Seed Brothers LOL grew up big and burly. So very different from tiny dad and smaller soft brother Hermes.

But age is the great equalizer and one by one we lost his brothers to respiratory issues.
Perses decided cuddling with me wasn’t that bad anymore. :P

Perses had mellowed enough by now to try him with new friends.

And it worked!
He loooved Smitty, another boy who was formerly aggressive with other rats. :)

And even put up with girls in the cage LOL

Then he just became too disabled to live in a cage so became a Bed Rat which he adored. He even put up with meeting all sorts of different rats

Including super obnoxious, fast-moving babies LOL

He did a lot of boggling

And finally his last saga came about, support and comfort for sweet damaged by neglect Morry.

Perses seemed so lost (we all felt it) when Morry passed, that he ended up following him soon after. He is now reunited with him, his entire family and all the older rats he made friends with at the end of his life that have passed on. G’night and sleep sweet Perses.
