Rolo

Rolo - Running on the Big Floor in the Sky ?? - June 14/11

Originally called Cow, and quickly renamed Rolo for her incredibly sweet nature, little Rolo arrived just over a month ago (May 6th). She was a darling little black berk with rusting and the most gentle nature. Jenny/Crumbilina kindly went out of her way to bring her to me, and was also her Godmother.

Life was very exciting to this little girl and her eyes were big and round while she checked everything out :D

I kept getting these niggling feelings of weak forepaws, a bit of confusion and wobbliness, but then she would be alert, agile and able to grasp things well…so I pushed my worries aside. Silly me.

Rolo discovered the absolute love of running, and became one of my overnighter’s and even made friends with my feisty and troublesome Linnea.

She had a small mammary tumour behind her armpit…and I arranged for a removal through Jenny’s vet (my vet was off with illnesss). But then she started exhibiting the true signs of PT (pituitary tumour) and the surgery was almost called off.

She was a smart girl and used the opportunity of being on her back for a little grooming session while supported.

Then the small but solid tumour started to rupture, so I decided to give her the best advantage I could with dex and bromocriptine to stabilize her and take a chance with the surgery, and at a longer life rather than a very short life when that tumour ruptured and she would have to be pts.

She had some really good “up” days when the bromocriptine kicked in, so we decided to chance the surgery and prayed the anesthetic didn’t progress the PT too far.
Sadly it didn’t pay off and my Rolo passed quietly from PT curled up beside Tanis last night. She was a content little scrap of fur until the end. Sweet Rolo, you shall be missed, especially by Linnea who is actually quite depressed and alone once again.
