Farewell Russell…Nice Meeting You… on Sept. 21, 2010
Due to a sudden freak accident, old Russell had to be pts this morning. I am still in shock and barely had time to say goodbye at the clinic.
Russell actually went through many people to get to me. It started with AlicemcMallis posting on July 21st about an older male that had been at Hamilton AC for a long time and was likely to be euthanized in 2 days if he wasn't adopted.
Lynds offered to take him in if we could get him to her at Shack Fest, so the mite-ridden agouti boy was pulled by Sarah/Alice and she fostered Milton a few days until he could be driven to Chelle’s. When he arrived the stress of the trip brought up a wretched URI that almost killed him. When the weekend of the Shack Fest rolled around too soon, he was still so unwell we were sure the trip would kill him, so Chelle kept him. A short while later I was over at her place and just pulled this boy out of his cage, and he started bruxxing and boggling. We decided that the busy environment of the rescue wasn’t good for this stressed boy and he wasn’t responding to treatment for his URI like he should. So he came home with me, and was renamed Russell as I already had a Milton RTR boy.
Russell relaxed and got better, and then met his new BFF Eli, a gentle nakie with one eye and they were inseparable.
He discovered his new world like a child, with bright eyes and a curiosity about everything. “All this…for ME?”He was so gentle and loooved his scratches and loving and would just hunker down to enjoy. He and Eli were one of my favourite cages. :D
When he arrived August 8th

Aug 11 – Exploring and learning how to move again

Chelle came down on August 13 and just had to cuddle the happy boy
