Sage - July 2011 to July 27, 2013
When I was doing my morning check, and found Sparrow gone this morning, I stopped checking the rats which was a mistake. I found Sage gone in her cage a couple of hours later. :(
She was bought to be snake food...then the guy's girlfriend fell in love with this little boy and named him Contagion. They pulled out a little siamese boy out to be his companion. But shortly they decided they wanted a pet home for them and somehow I got contacted. The 2 boys ended up being a boy and a girl. Contagion became Sage and the pretty boy became Dustman/Dusty :)
Sage always looked and acted like a little rough and tumble boy :)

Sadly she was pregnant, and too young and small to spay so we left her to it.

She grew in size and bulk quickly, 100 grams easily...I expected a huge litter but her daily weighs starting becoming very erratic and I knew something was wrong with the pregnancy. She finally gave birth...to 1 stillborn baby and tiny Sam. She ignored Sam and barely fed him...and he died 1.5 days later. I think she was glad to not be a mom and she went on her merry way a now huge young girl. She and her brother were both biiiig rats.

She refused to accept any groups or single rats I introduced her to until I tried her with baby Yara who REALLY needed a friend. She was the single girl of the Niagara nakie rescue.

Sage let Yara beat on her which was NOT Sage. It was hilarious, this tiny pink thing chasing big ol' Sage around making her squeak LOLOL

My big girl comes to visit

Sage went through all of poor Yara's medical dilemma's with her and those 2 pushed each other around like siblings with Yara mostly getting away with it, but every once in awhile Sage would snap back and chase poor Yara down and she would get a bit scratched up.

Sage got hit by the virus in February and was very sick for a couple of days but bounced back as usual

Sadly her fits of rage with Yara were progressing and eventually Yara was being traumatized too much so I found her a new group that she looves. Sage stayed alone, cuddling, playing and running around like usual. She aged very fast recently but her being gone was unexpected but her family did have poor genetics as her brother has Zymbal's Gland Tumour and she was developing a large inguinal tumour herself.
The one thing I truly loved about my Sageling that never stopped and made me melt each and every time she did it was her lip-flapping or gum-smacking (a not common version of bruxxing some rats pick up). She was sooo adorable!! (video below)
