Topaz - March 2013 to June 25, 2014
Some girl in a different city took home 2 Petstore Surprises (girlies already pregnant...surprise!). The beige sisters litter was stilborn but the blues was not. The blue was a biter, and the girl had little knowledge and really didn't want to learn, she just wanted her gone
The poor little rat had lived there 8 weeks and only been out of the cage once. When Nichol went to get them they tossed the beige girl into the same box and said "Here we don't want her anymore".

The 2 girls took ages to get to me, but when they finally did they became Opal (blue hoodie) and Topaz (beige hoodie). Unfortunately Opal and Topaz were completely unsocialized and very frightened. It took months and months of work to get them to relax enough to be held for a short time
and Opal kept biting. To this day Opal continues to bite if I am not careful LOL Topaz gave it up quickly

Topaz always had a mucky eye on the left side as well no matter what I tried...

Since they really didn't like humans much, I gave them lots of rat friends, and they were good with the girls but took a real dislike to my sweet, cuddly Liam, who put up with all the bad behaviour and slowly wore them down...they ended up loving him like all his girls did :P
There's that mucky eye again

Topaz being brave and checking things out with Liam, Opal in the background waiting for an unwary hand to come too near LOL

Literally within days this weekend, Topaz's eye started really oozing porphyrin, then it started to swell up fast...I was hoping for infection, but it quickly became obvious that it was a tumour, and I had her put to sleep yesterday.
Poor girly was just really starting to like me, and being held and the massages, rubs and scritches that came of it
This was her yesterday, you can see the distortion in her face. Sleep well Topaz.
