Chara - Jan. 2008 to Aug. 23, 2009 :(
Chara, Mira and Maaz all came to me as very young girls at 8 weeks. They had been rehomed with their mom but mom got sick and the girl who adopted them couldn’t afford vet care. So the mom (Pinn) stayed with the rescuer and I got the 3 girls to rehome. At this point, Goliath wasn’t successfully introducing to anymore. Everyone hated my wee 3 month old monster…who would start by bullying, then when someone pushed back, he would whine and bite at their faces in fear…I thought let’s try the new girls and once he screws that one up too, I will find them good homes. giggle
Goliath fell in love. heart He found girls who put up with his ways, and put him in his place when needed and loved to cuddle with him in the hammock. No way could I split up this happy foursome. :)
These girls had obviously not been handled much and were very spooky. I then added tiny Chenoa into the mix and they took her in happily. I think Chenoa was the turning point for Mira and Chara…little Maaz is still a very spooky girl about handling. Just cannot resign herself to it at all.
Then more girls were added to Goliath’s harem, Ellie and Shama for a short while, but they ended up terrorizing the colony eventually. Then I added in Tonka and Monkey and that was perfect.
Life settled down into a wonderful thing for this group, and Chara became one of the sweetest girls…kind, with a beautiful expression. She and Mira even learned to play with me. They were a very happy group indeed.
Chara on right
Sadly Chara developed a very large internal mass and within days she died in my hands at 3:00 pm today. I told her to go be with her much missed and wonderful mom Pinn, Pinn's cagemate Eggy and lastly wee Chenoa who left us awhile ago. :'(
Sigh...already one of my black “hellions” is gone :(
