Havarti

Havarti – Dec 2008 to March 4, 2011

The London Cheeses came from Lindy who came upon a situation where there were babies constantly being born, the girl was running out of tanks and hamster cages and Lindy managed to get 9 babies out and I believe she took in some young adults. The 5 young boys went to Lyndsy, and I took in the 4 wee girls, nicknamed the London Cheeses. They were skitty babies, and 2 of them stayed very skittish until close to the end and then the lightbulb went off and they wanted me in their lives all the time. LOL Havarti had no such issues, she was beautiful, a ham, friendly AND licked…all her life. 

First I started using sharpie marker on their tails then I colour-coded them with food dye…Havarti was green 

Last picture of the 3 of them, we lost Gruyere right after this

Havarti developed 3 tumours all at once, all in different locations, so I just left them. Unfortunately the inguinal one was the one that made me decide she should go with dignity today. She spent her 2nd last night sleeping in my arms...I would wake up and rub her head and she would brux and boggle for me. Her last night she spent cuddled up with her family...

And now there is only Feta, who lives with aging one-eyed Tepeu, and elderly curmudgeon Hansel. Feta was a no-touch girl, but her light bulb has finally gone off and she has started liking handling much more. It only takes these rats a couple of years to figure it out.
Fare thee well Ms. Havarti.
