Otto

Otto – November 2006 to January 26, 2010

Otto and Wilbur were originally Blackie and Smokie and were an ad on good ol’ kijiji about a rescue needing to rehome rats. I emailed her and found out the “rescue” was a kid who kept rats in her bedroom she saved from the feeder bin. There were 10 rescues and her mom decided no more and drove 8 of them to the snake store to be food. Luckily Mom said the girl could have a day to try to rehome the last 2 boys. I emailed her about 15 minutes before they were to leave on the way to the reptile store. * whew *

Otto enters my life with his much friendlier and outgoing brother. Blackie I was told, had never been handled because he was too spooky and might bite her. He was 18 months old!!! When he first arrived he was petrified and literally froze in the basket on the end-table for ½ an hour…all you could see were big round black eyes and him breathing. Eventually his brother came back, gave him a couple of licks and led him around. Otto never liked being picked up much his whole life, but did end up enjoying pats and running on you on the couch. He was my strong, dark and silent handsome man.

They were neutered by a butcher, but managed to survive that, and Otto started to really warm up.

Then Otto and Wilbur joined sad and lonely Shadow, and then crazy little baby Carina joined the little family as well.

She just adored her Unca Otto

…they lived the CSB group (Carina Snake Biter the longest but first Wilbur became too weak and was nursemaided by my elderly Valora and then after he passed, poor Otto became too feeble in his hind end to get up the ramps, so he joined his last family, with Valora and Mogwai.

Valora was pts soon after, and then Moggy and Otto were joined by Shama and Ellie and the Family continued.

He was sooo sweet that boy. I let him and Shama cross the Bridge together this morning.

Otto has many many friends to look up at the Bridge, his wonderful Wilbur, Valora, Kittie, Keely, Brigit, Shadow, Mattie, Amelia, even Lottie (whom he hopefully has forgiven by now). Breathe well my quiet friend.
