Poppy, last of the Train Rats - Jan. ’08 to Sept. 14 ‘10
The Party Girls from Moncton started their journey in Moncton, NB and ended it in my home in Toronto, ON. They were named this after hearing how Jane/smallvic described them when they did a stop overnight in Montreal at her home. She said they were hilarious and would keep me on my toes. Was she ever right!! But soon after arriving the Party Girls became the Moncton Monsters. They were rubbers and body checkers of EVERYTHING. Out time was a nerve-wracking experience with crashes every few minutes…by the time they were supposed to go back in their cage I had had enough and still had to pick up after their joyful mayhem. They were true characters and very opinionated. Poppy was my favourite of the whole crew with her cheeky but friendly attitude.

Poppy in the middle of her sisters and under her hefty friend Pea LOL

Poppy developed a big fast-growing tumor that was removed in November 2009

Once that tumour was removed, all those nutrients got packed onto her

She developed cataracts soon after as well.
The fur on her surgical site never really grew back, the HED kicked in, but it still didn’t stop her. I would put a cube or a pocket hammock on the bed for my old lady, and she would brux and boggle happily

She liked Pez and they spent Pez’s last days together. Now this time around Pocky (Pez’s sister) was the one spending time with Poppy
11 days ago, old and feeble but very bright

It was her time, and she lived her life to the fullest from province to province, The last of my Train Rats…end of a very special time in my life.
Be with your family PopPop, I shall look for you when it’s my time.
