Shama – April 2007 to January 26, 2010
Shama was a soft little soul who was originally found by a cat rescuer who went to throw out some garbage about midnight on a freezing cold February night. Teri found a man in the process of throwing 2 rats in a hamster cage into the dumpster. Teri took in the 2 girls, educated herself, and tried to rehome them. She tried for 5 months with no takers, but when things got desperate and her cats almost got them, I heard and took in the Almost-Dumpster girls. Shama was the quiet reserved lady-like girl compared to her tomboy sister Ellie.
Shama was a pretty girl all her life and very sweet but sadly she was paired up with Ellie who was a bit of a bully with other rats and she ended up harassing all the cagemates she lived with so finally I had to keep Ellie and Shama by themselves. They were happiest that way it seemed.
And then a miracle happened. I tried them with my geriatric group on the couch and it was amazing. They both had decided it was time they had friends to grow old with. So they joined with Otto and Moggy.
Lovely little Shama still looks lovely 3 days ago at 33.5 months. Shama sadly has had hard internal masses for a long long time, and respiratory issues in the last few months…it was her time to go, and she and Otto took the same path together today.

You can find your sister Ellie now sweet thing!
