Shimei - June 2010 to January 10, 2013

Shimei was a happy sweet girl who lived to get out of her cage. That really ended up being her lifelong mission LOL
We determined that Shimei was more just over a year old rather than 2 years old.
Home!

This happy little girl was so gentle and kind she joined the older rats in the group. She adored Lilith and often cuddled with her while she wasn’t feeling well after her surgery.
The rest of the time she was a happy playful little thing :D

When Shimei was newer she squeezed through the bars of Inca’s cage and got her hock badly bitten causing a nasty infection. Later on Inca joined the Lilith group and you can see Shimei holds no grudges.

Auntie Shimei joined the young girls and was okay but not truly as happy as she could be. Happiness was RUNNING, all the time if she had her way.
Once the adoption of the 4 young girls was confirmed to Nic a couple of months ago, I started introducing Shimei and my gentle sweet nursemaid finally broke down silly scared Norbert’s defenses. Watching them “dance” was really funny…she played him gently like a harp :P Freezing when his worry would start to overwhelm him, ignoring him while he danced about.

Then she moved in.

Loving new friends

Then she taught him to accept others as well…he’s improving very slowly in that respect. He would ignore and avoid them and she would cuddle with her oldies. Shimei was an Overnighter now and all her dreams were fulfilled!

Sadly my girl who was never sick developed what we thought was PT and was on bromocriptine for a short while but her symptoms returned while on the bromo so I stopped it and she did pretty well on steroid therapy for a short while.

Sadly waaay too short.

You can see a worried Norby in the background. He is going to need a lot of comfort now that his cuddle girl is leaving him.

Goodbye sweet Shimei, may all your futures be full of freedom and happiness, and cuddly friends. You deserve it!
