Syra - July 2010 to Feb. 9, 2013 :(
I thought I was done with memorials today having just done up 2 for some special boys, when I saw that Syra was gasping, I pulled her out, and held her...she seized a couple of times, then stopped. Fastest I have ever had a rat go before. I am glad it was quick and not drawn out all weekend, as Syra lost her battle with her respiratory issues.
Shy, nervous Syra, , along with her sister Shade, had been picked up by the wonderful Jenniferkelley and her mom, in a city far from car-less me. They helped transport these sad little girls to me. Their former owners were going to dump Syra and her sister outside in the forest to be free if no one took them :(. These people insisted they loved their rats and especially Syra, and that they had taken her sickly sister to the vet for treatment. Ummm...no way. Shade came to me in such horrible shape it really was a miracle that she survived much less rebounded like she did. A good part of the reason was her sister Syra, who she loved very much, but not necessarily in a cuddly way all the time LOL
Syra arrives, in decent shape, but very nervous and scared.

Syra was an awesome barometer for the state of her sister's health. When she wasn't well, she was gentle and cuddling her. When she started pushing her around then I knew Shade was doing better LOL

She loved to run, usually away from me. Syra squeaked for most of her life with me, when I would pick her up...in the end I think it was just a habit LOL

Booty pic with her improving sister Shade

Shade feeling much better, time to bug sis!

Right back atcha!

Shade developed a nasty inoperable tumour that was all along her chest wall and soon after that PT. She became my 2nd really successful case with the bromocriptine, but Syra stopped shoving her sister around and they cuddled happily for the rest of Shade's days.

She then joined Ophelia, and it wasn't a true love affair, but they liked each other. Ophelia is at a bit of a loss right now. :(

My sweet old lady who grew to like me very much.
