Tikal 08/05 to 01/01/07 :(
What a distinction, the first rat of the year it seems.
Tikal after having an evening of comfort with Seb, Selene, Portia and Ariel, has gone to be with her beloved sister. They both died of PT, but Tikal went very very quietly asleep on her side. For once my pleas to let go, and be with her sister were listened to!
Tikal and Maya were adopted from a shelter and came home with me. Tikal was a cutie but she had a disconcerting habit of a nip every now and then to bare skin…just a pinch, and I am sure she giggled to herself afterwards. Cheeky monkey! Tikal was the passive sister, and followed her beloved Maya everywhere. I ended up intro’g them to Lucky and Frigg and they were the happiest little foursome. Tikal at the bottom of the pecking order but just fine with that. Frigg passed and I intro’d loner Moth to the group. Poor Tik, she got bullied quite a bit and kept going back for more. Tiny little Maya used to protect her since she was alpha and Tikal used to use that to her benefit. Lucky also used to step in between Tikal and Moth. Unfortunately Lucky was the first to pass, and then Maya…poor Tikal had no buffer anymore and Moth frightened her.
Her health has always been great, but her “posture” wasn’t. She walked flat footed and low to the ground. Suddenly she started acting very limp, and then she progressed to wobbly and confused. Then the PT pushback started…sigh. Tik wanted to be just like her sister. She was a sweet, brave little soul to the end, and I will miss her terribly. 17 months is waaay too young little one, but I understand you HAD to be with your sister.
