Tika - April 2008 to June 3, 2010
Tika came as the throw-in sister to Hoochy. Both rats were being rehomed and a friend of mine had been in communication with the owner. She was looking forward to getting these 2 older girls home. One day I got a frantic email that the owner had told my friend that the black girl was dying. I got her email and started going back and forth with her. It sounded like PT or possibly stroke. Another friend drove all the way there and to me to deliver her…thank you Chelle!
Tika was the big healthy protective cage mate to her Hoochy girl.
Hoochy did recover from her stroke and began her Running Career…but she also managed to badly sprain a front paw and since Tika was a Rough Love type of girl they had to be separated because she kept hurting Tika unintentionally. Sadly they were only reunited a short time before Hoochy had another stroke.

This left Tika an angry, rat aggressive girl.
I tried her with many rats, passive, not-so passive and she injured them all…no sidling and huffing puffing, body language for this gal. Just a dash in, a scuffle of which the other rat would bleed and a puffy tooth chattering girl afterwards. So she became a loner for awhile. She didn’t really trust/like people much but she would watch us all the time.
She was a pretty, stocky little gal, loved to do her own thing

A short while later, I tried her with my very mixed friendly group (oldies, to younger girls) and at first she puffed up and was waiting for an attack. They ignored that behaviour completely and she calmed down and realized she could have friends…and she did. She developed PT soon after this and quietly passed in my arms the morning after the RTR rescues arrived.
Reunited with her Hoochy
