Zoey was delivered to me with her sister in a shoebox by a couple who wanted to get rid of their ratboys. Turns out the boys are girls and the “huge” rats are just past babies. Plus their home was a horrific hamster contraption that had even less room for a rat than a regular hamster cage.
At 6 months I found a lump on Zoey’s neck and my vet removed it and we spayed her at the same time. She was a happy, friendly girl who got pretty big after her spay as some girls do LOL. At 12 months the tumor came back, but this time it wasn’t playing around. It was lumpy and invasive and inoperable. My poor girl, I prayed it would stay small and it did for a short while then it grew and grew. By the end Zoey was popcorning around with this huge mass under her throat that was actually raw on 2 parts. It was a hard decision today because she seemed to take no notice of it, but I could see it practically growing day by day and decided enough was enough. Zoey was a sweet gal but loved her ratty friends most. She was only 16 months old.
It was time and she was put to sleep with Yogurt and they are together again along with their beloved Theo. They were his favorite girls. :)
My poor little Zo-zo on the right
