Asha was a “leftover” from a rescue situation. I had helped a girl rehome 8 of her 10 rats before she moved to England, and instead of these 2 wee black hoodies going to a high-kill shelter I took them in to rehome. Sadly the rescue market was saturated and I knew I would never find anyone to want my “plain” girls. So I kept them. Adia and Asha they became instead of hoodie girl #1 and #2.
I am not a bather of rats but these girls absolutely smelled vile and even after a couple of days every time they ran by my face I gagged. So a bath they had. Asha was NOT impressed.
Soon after this Asha became known as The Flying Rat. I had blocked off her route so she decided the quickest way between 2 points was…
But soon she gained some adult weight and the flying rat was grounded :D And they both joined the Horde with much trepidation. This is when I found out I had a Jekyll and Hyde rat. She was the most subordinate of them all, then she would snap and would terrorize every rat in it, sometimes including her sister.
After some time though she ended up settling in.
Asha and Adia never got sick, but unlike her sister who was very dainty and sweet, Asha had no real interest in me until much later. Adia passed, and then Asha started up with spinal nerve degeneration. (HED)
After Brie, Kamali, Lucine, Prima and Dilbert all left us, poor Asha was stuck with rats who weren’t particularly fond of her but she did manage to bond a bit with Aura.
But eventually she became unhappy with her cagemates and I removed her last month when she was 3 and put her hospital cage on my bed where she was VERY happy. :D
She even said goodbye to Aura on her last night and tried to care for her.
She got her rubdowns which she loved and would boggle for me all the time.
My special little girl just didn’t want to leave this new life she had discovered but her body gave up before her spirit did. She was on my lap this morning and I was trying to syringe rehydrating formula into her so I could go to work. She refused. Half an hour later, she had some quiet seizures and was gone. I hope she finds Dilly, Kamali, Kyrie and Brie to love on her like she deserves. :heart: :heart:
