Cesar - November 2010 to January 10, 2013
Cesar came into my life when Shar’s neice was unable to care for him and his brother any longer. They were very sick rats, and sadly Wiley didn’t make it.
Cesar, the brave boy, sick that he was, really fought and won some skirmishes with his respiratory issues. Sadly in the end they became too much, but considering how many times I have thought I would be euthanizing him soon, and how many times he bounced back, the breathing eased , the eyes brightened and the strong character emerged again, it really is amazing. I know he’s one of the last of his family to live so he’s done pretty well with his poor genetics.
Beautiful boy
And what a smile!
Then he met the love of his life, even though she wanted NOTHING to do with her. He gently wore her down, until she grew to tolerate him and finally love him.
g
Cesar loved pizza
But he loved his lady even more
July 14th, tired eyes, heaving lungs (he had pulmonary abscesses we were attempting to manage)
Then he did his rubber ball trick and came back to life LOL
Sadly his beloved Flower developed a horrible tumour under her neck and she left us. I knew she would be going in the next day, so I put her and Cesar in with Keiran and Dru for a day prior, so he would have some comfort once she was gone. Two days after that I found Dru passed on, so this time I added in another boy and Cesar became an overnighter, he loved his little group, as he was alpha…no matter how big they were, his determination would get those boys flat on their back, with him lying on them in a pin LOL
More new friends (Galileo, Cesar nose to nose with gentle Keiran)
Gentle aging
Cuddled with Oscar
Enjoying being groomed by Keiran
The nose that I won’t forget. Sleeping and sticking out from under the pillow cave. So many ups and downs with this boy, and he could probably go on a little longer, but I don’t want to take a chance at him suffering.
Kisses to that nose. I shall miss him cuddling up behind my neck, regally asking for scratches and pats, doing his own thing at all times. Breathe deep Cesar, climb high and taunt those rats you love to hate.
