Clemmie - January 2011 to June 19, 2013
Clemmie used to live with Olive (and Sharlees) but Olive was beyond feisty and dominated her entire cage...Clemmie was subordinated and not a happy girl in with Olive's gang. She came home with me where I learned that Clemmie had decided that now that she was out from under Olive's rule she wanted to be the Evil Queen...and she tried. She met many rats who I hoped would be a companion to her. In the beginning it started well but then she would start to get mean to the other rat, so I found a new gentler companion for them and Clemmie want back to being defiantly alone. She was a lovely girl with humans, just don't add another rat to the mix LOL
Settling in her new home
She met baby Belle briefly, but that didn't work out LOL
Then I discovered her had a small tumour on her side near her hind leg and had it removed as well as having her spayed, giving her more opportunities at a new friend.
Holding onto her food after the anesthetic...she really did like food for such a lithe little gal :D
We did have one lovely fit, her former flat-mate Dexter (who also didn't like rats), they pushed each other around and this was great until Dexter just become too old and sick to withstand her "affections"
I tried her with the younger boys but they harrassed her unmercifully and this is where I learned there was 2 Clemmie's...the frightened one and the aggressive one, and who knew which one was coming out each day LOL
l
then I tried her with Tyr...poor sweet lumpy Tyr...it wasn't the best fit but Tyr had lost his brother and was alone, so I was hoping they would bond.
Tyr did have his surgery and went on to recover with tiny old Althea and it was love at first sight at least!
After this I gave up, and Clemmie was very happy...running free, aging, always sick off and on, but feisty girl always getting through it.
Got her food, now must run...so few pics of Clemmie....she was too fast!
She kept aging, getting more feeble, coming out with the other rats and just ignoring them. Even the gentle ones like Luna were rebuffed. She was very set in her ways.
Yesterday morning, she seemed off, very quiet and I left Luna out with her as she was finally enjoying cuddling with another rat. I came home last night to a happy Luna, but no Clemmie. I found her on the floor, quiet, and cool and her breathing was long and slow. I think she waited for me, because once I was holding her, she settled right down, her breathing went agonal a short time later, and she passed in my hands. Sweet feisty girl. I shall miss looking up and seeing your happy boggling face, being careful with my fingers as he struck like a snake to get your treat
Be well little one, and please please let someone into your heart so you have a ratty companion...maybe Dexter is waiting for you, and you two can happily push each other around again?
