Loki - January 2010 to October 18, 2012
Loki was one of 4 brothers who needed a home who could pay for their ongoing care and medical bills. Their owner loved them dearly but had fallen into bad times for herself and decided unselfishly that she needed to find them a home who could take care of them in their Golden Months. They were already 23 months old at this time, and the smallest boy had a terrible tumour and the others had respiratory issues. CCH was contacted but wasn’t able to take them in so contacted me. Jenny went and picked up the 4 boys, and took them home for a couple of days before she was able to transport to me.
They were such sweet boys (or so I thought LOL), but Cecil, the tiny frail tumour boy took most of my attention at that point. The other brothers were Loki, another tiny beige boy, his bigger stockier book-end brother, formerly timid Tommy and the alpha of the group, proud Oscar. We gave little Cecil a real chance at life without the tumour and he did enjoy the time without it but it was just too short. Loki was most like wonderful little Cecil, and I turned to him when I was sad over Cecil’s loss. Loki was gentle and kind, and just a lovely all around sweet boy. They sadly all had chronic URI’s that stabilized on antibiotics but were never cured.

Starting to really show his age

32 months

33 months, his URI is becoming a real problem, and he was too frail to be with Oscar and Tommy any longer, so I introduced him to newly widowed Xanthe (her Tyr-man). She practically rolled her eyes, said “do I have to?” to me, and then accepted him. Loki was in love with her though and she and Loki became my overnighters…they loved it.
His last morning with Xanthe, they had slept in my/their old jacket all night. I let them go together.
